.DISCUSSION...
Typical summertime weather to cap off the holiday weekend with
regional highs in the 80s and 90s beneath mostly sunny skies.
Isolated showers are possible this afternoon along the higher
terrain in Alpine County to northern Mono County, and in far eastern
Churchill County where chances of rain are about 10-15. Elsewhere,
dry weather prevails with typical afternoon breeziness.
Nearly stationary low pressure will churn off the CA coast over the
next few days before lifting across the region around midweek.
Attendant weak instability will support low chances (5-10%) of
showers and isolated thunderstorms in Lassen and far northern Washoe
counties Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Winds also become a bit
more breezy each afternoon early this week in response to the
transient low, but are not expected to be stronger than our typical
zephyr. Nonetheless, these increased breezes and RH reductions below
15% will yield elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions
across lower elevations each afternoon Monday through Wednesday. Of
lesser concern, minor cooling will cease our ongoing warming trend
Tuesday and Wednesday, but daytime highs will still be near 80F and
90F each of these days.
High pressure amplifies over the western states late this week,
becoming quite strong by the weekend. As this evolves, temperatures
warm to near 90F and 100F each afternoon Friday into the weekend for
Sierra and western Nevada valleys, respectively. In fact, Friday and
Saturday are good candidates for the first 100F day in Reno/Sparks
of 2025. It`s still a week away, but make sure to keep the heat in
mind when making plans for next weekend.

.AVIATION...
Minimal weather impacts expected today as VFR conditions and light
afternoon breezes prevail areawide. Much of the same is in store for
Monday with a slight chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms in
the afternoon near the Oregon border. Upper 90F heat may present
some density altitude issues for western Nevada terminals Monday
afternoon, particularly at KHTH-KNFL-KLOL.
